Support for Farm Bill Frameworks Receiving Attention

The recently proposed farm bill frameworks from the U.S. Senate and House Agriculture Committees are receiving support from industry associations and agricultural organizations. The Chairwoman Stabenow and Chairman Thompson have been recognized by the Specialty Crop Farm Bill Alliance (SCFBA) for their work in giving priority to federal investments and cutting-edge tools that would assist specialty crop growers. The SCFBA expresses optimism that both proposals will include significant funding for specialty crops, but highlights that bipartisan cooperation is necessary to ensure the bill's approval. In light of the fact that both frameworks provide $25 million a year to the Emergency Citrus Disease Research and Extension Program, California Citrus Mutual has praised the industry's dedication to combating Huanglongbing (HLB). It is believed that this financing is essential to continuing the search for an HLB cure.

The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) has conveyed its gratitude for both proposals' recognition of the need for more funding for programs that benefit farmers and ranchers. In order to guarantee rapid passage, AFBF emphasizes the significance of bipartisan cooperation and quick markup sessions. In a similar vein, the National Association of Conservation Districts has applauded the support for adding the remaining conservation investments from the Inflation Reduction Act to the bill's conservation title.

The National Farmers Union, which agrees with the call for bipartisan support, emphasizes the need for a more robust farm safety net, more equitable markets, and improved prospects for the next generation of farmers. The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) has expressed gratitude for the farm bill frameworks' incorporation of industry concerns concerning conservation and nitrogen stewardship. TFI is eager to work with Congress to make sure that the final farm bill includes ideas that it supports.

In order to pass a bill that increases the competitiveness of American farmers and ranchers, Chuck Conner, President of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives, believes that these first measures are essential. Meanwhile, Gregg Doud, President & CEO of the National Milk Producers Federation, expresses optimism with the emphasis on dairy objectives and states that the organization is prepared to work with others to finalize the farm bill this year. In order to pass a strong farm bill, Jaime Castaneda, Executive Director of the Consortium for Common Food Names, highlights the significance of addressing the difficulties faced by American food and beverage industries and expresses readiness to collaborate closely with both committees.
